I'm quoting Bobby Axelrod from the show "Billions" when he is asked to reveal the trades that made his firm fly. The point of this post is to never be shy about sharing your knowledge.
There are many benefits with disseminating what you know. Beyond the obvious moral ones, here's a couple:
- By sharing what works and what doesn't, your tricks and known traps, you help your team grow and become better at what they do. Hopefully they'll be incentivised to share what they know with you. Learning never stops.
- Delegating is empowering and liberating. Once you pass your knowledge to someone else working with you, capacity to do more is released. You can then learn more and grow further.
The biggest return on your investment is always sharing knowledge with people who will benefit from it. Ultimately, it's a force multiplier which will pay dividends for a long time.
